On policy, my particular competency is in all things carbon. Carbon cycling, carbon pricing, and carbon removal are all core strengths where my expertise in science and policy overlap. Trained as a geologist and oceanographer, I have a bedrock understanding of sources and sinks for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, and how carbon moves and is transformed between reservoirs.

As a policy practitioner who has helped pass several bills through Congress, taking policy from inception to passage is more than just theory. As the lead technical expert supporting congressional offices ahead of the first bipartisan carbon pricing bill introduced in nearly a decade, I improvised policy solutions on the fly to build unusual coalitions and help lawmakers build support for quality legislation.
